  • The 2001 Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel (usually called the Nobel Prize in Economics) was awarded jointly to three economists (George Akerlof, Michael Spence, and Joseph Stiglitz) for their analyses of markets with asymmetric information.
